Sam Altman, CEO and co-founder of OpenAI, recently shared on X/Twitter his belief that the new Apple Vision Pro is the “second most impressive tech since the iPhone.”
Altman also replied to a user who commented that Apple’s new spatial computing headset had “probably the worst name tho,” and in doing so, he indirectly criticized his own product.
Considering Altman’s sentiments, it’s logical that OpenAI recently released a visionOS version of the ChatGPT app last week.
The Vision Pro is priced at $3,500 upfront or $291.58 per month for a year, making it one of the pricier mass-market tech devices in recent times. However, it seems to have had a promising start, with third-party estimates indicating sales of over 200,000 units since its launch in the U.S. last month.
